We started...
Rapid Descent Innovations Ltd was started by Callum & Cliff back in 1997 when we were selling the (in)famous LTK9596 and the LTK9798ex long travel kits for Proflex riders to increase the rear travel on bikes to 5-6 inches. This was us at the Malverns in 1996 (I think!) showing off the bikes.
Soon we started selling springs for Proflex 856/956/XP-series riders who had their MCUs harden or melt. The COR spring range is made here in Scotland "a bottle throw away" from one of Glasgows football stadiums.

Along came...
Then along came "Swedish Mike" who is more than well known for singlespeed mud wrestling (don't ask) who also had a sensible job engineering aero-engines and a not so sensible job running a Swedish motor racing team. He invented the HammerHead disk brake adapter that we sell here today.
This is Mike, Sprucey and Callum at the 2001 SSWC (Singlspeed World Championships) that was held at the fabulous trails at Port Talbot, Wales. of course, we were at the 2007 Worlds here in Scotland. and will be at most Euro and UK singlespeed champs.
We've also experimented with all sorts of stuff including carbon fibre bars and belt driven mountain bikes. We also made the first truly long travel Kona's using our own aftermarket kits. I'd like to think that the new Kona DH bikes owe a little design heritage to our work 10 years ago.

Rapid Descent Scotland
Rapid Descent Scotland is run by Callum now, he is always late getting stock in and always suprised when it runs out. The RDS reasearch and development is quite literally run from his attic in Stirling - yes, that is victorian-era lathe and plaster in the photos. But it is quite big and the rent is cheap.
Stirling has some of the best mountain biking in the world 10 minutes from the town centre with the fantastic barren landscape of the Ochil Hills to the north and the forests to the south of Carron Valley and North Third. Check out Stirling Bike Club for more information on rides and guides.
RDS sells top quality gear that will keep your bike on the road. We have had thousands of customers over the years and we plan to carry on our fine tradition of selling gear and getting pissed at races.
I'm afraid we don't have a physical shop open to the public, but you are welcome to post to our forum or contact us for more information.
we are closed
We closed our online shop in March 2010 after 13 years of online business. Not for any real reason except that Callum was getting bored of waiting in increasingly unhelpful post office queues (the UK governemnet shut most of the post offices?!?). Also, Callum is riding a hell of a lot more and is frequently seen out on the trails in central Scotland.
Contacting RDS
If you have technical questions then contact Callum on the email address assigned to the order you made. otherwise, try
idriders.com/proflex for a knowledgeable crowd who still ride Proflexes.
